Sculpture

I am inspired by the challenge of giving life to a piece of clay, especially when working on portraits and the human form. I want the viewer to feel, to be confronted by the emotion of the character I create.

Working with clay feels extremely connected to the earth. My connection with clay goes back to my childhood, growing up on the shore of the St Lawrence river.

When I went to art school I discovered that not only I loved touching, feeling the clay but that I could do amazing things with it! I realized that whatever I saw I could mold in clay, and just fell in love with modelling. So I developed an understanding of human anatomy and just let my hands model the intricacy of the model’s bodies.

I continue to work with clay as much as my life permits. I’m so grateful that life lets me keep working with clay as much as I can. I have so many pieces I want to create, but sculpture is very process-oriented, and takes time to emerge.

If you would like a portrait of you or your family, want to memorialize your pregnant body or would like a sculpture for your garden, let me know, we can explore all possibilities.
